Dominic Lindner

Dominic LindnerHello, my name is Dominic Lindner (born 1989) from Nuremberg and as the author of this blog, I would like to introduce myself briefly.

From 2016 to 2020, in addition to my profession, I wrote my dissertation on the topic:“Impact of digitalisation on SMEs with knowledge-intensive services“. Unfortunately, because of Corona, the awarding of my doctorate drags on a little.

As part of my research, I present the results on this blog at regular intervals and blog on other relevant topics in the field of “Agility”.

Before starting my doctorate, I studied business informatics in the Bachelor’s and Master’s at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. In the Master’s programme, I spent most of my time on the Erasmus programme at umea University in Sweden. My private (and business) biggest success was the foundation and the timely successful sale of the start-up “My Möbelstück” in 2015. In addition to my research on agile companies, I also act as a board member of Projektify e.V.,which operates an online platform for the supply and sale of web projects. In this function, I want to contribute to the digital transformation. Furthermore, together with three colleagues, I advise newcomers to the profession on the subject of consulting.

In addition, I am very happy to write books on the topic of digitization. If you want to connect with me, you can also find me on Xing and LinkedIn.

External doctorate at the Chair of IT Management

PM forum

For my doctorate, I am at the chair wi3 IT-Management at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. Here I work as an external doctoral student and deal mainly with research. My aim is to advance the topic on a permanent basis together with experts and practical partners. Find out more and also look at my profile at the chair.

Full-time in the job

In addition to my time-intensive doctorate, I have always worked full-time in practice since completing my studies. I started in 2015 in a management consultancy for agile methods and primarily helped DAX companies introduce agility.

Afterwards (2017) I was at an IT outsourcing company in Nuremberg & Munich. I was responsible for a team of 12 employees who work virtually across three locations according to agile methods for large customers. In addition to team management, my work focuses on driving the agile change in my department and supporting organizational development as a staff.

Since October 2019, I have been a member of the Executive Board at OwnCloud GmbH and head the project management, consulting and support department of our product. I also have a company-wide mission to drive the digital workplace (100% remote) and organizational development.

Interface between theory and practice

It is important to me not to lose touch with the practice and to experience this of my own studies, myself up close. However, the agile company project is not a commercial project related to my current work. With my practical work at the IT service provider, I finance my entire livelihood, because, unlike many other doctoral students, I do not work at the university.

Man, athlete and IceHockey fan

One often asks doctoral students and/or management consultants with a large field of activity: “Do they actually still have free time with so much work?” The answer: Of course! Because without leisure time, you are not able to perform well for companies. Privately, in the summer Stand Up Paddling on the Pegnitz provides me with a nice balance to my other activities, in winter I am often met at the IceTigers Nuremberg. I am also a co-creator and member of a fitness lounge in Nuremberg.

Exchange ideas with me

The modern world lives solely from exchange. Information alone is no longer useful if you do not know anything about its application. I am therefore always looking forward to a lively exchange with you and others on the topic of agility and digitalization. Just write me a message or connect with me on Xing or LinkedIn! I am also constantly looking for interview or practice partners for case studies on agility outside IT. Follow this research project via Twitter, Facebook or via newsletter.
