An agile department?
The project identified different areas where agility can take place. This area was examined in detail with literature and evaluated with the help of 14 interviews. The results will soon be published in an academic journal paper. I will let you know as soon as I have any new information about it. The areas studied for an agile department are:
- Finance / Fintech
- Research and development
- IT development
- IT test
On the one hand, each of these areas has the potential to be an agile department and, on the other hand, to offer a lot of literature. In this sense, 183 sources were identified between 2012 and 2016. I have evaluated this information with experts and determined exactly how to define agility in certain areas. These results are constantly discussed in the roundtables. I am always looking for participants.
In the next iteration, we will now take the relevant areas and evaluate them in pilot projects with practical partners. In an academic publication, I will soon show exactly how far agility has already advanced in each of the areas and in which agility has not yet gained a foothold.
The rapid increase in publications in 2015 is particularly noteworthy. This year, as many publications have appeared among the keywords examined as in 2013 and 2014 combined. It turns out that agility is slowly leaving IT and finding its way into other divisions of the company. You can find out more about the motivation for research in a separate article.
Are you also interested in agile projects in one of the three areas? Then participate in the roundtable with a case study or as a participant. Just write me an e-mail using the contact form. You can read the overview of each agile department in the “AgilityAreas ” category. From time to time I blog new insights. You will find there, for example, how agility in the areas of production, marketing, HR, logistics and logistics etc. and which approaches exist for the different areas.
