Virtual teams are characterized primarily by the fact that they are usually only a temporary union of several participants of workgroups. As a rule, these meet only for the period of development and implementation of certain projects and then separate again in order to reintegrate into new working groups for other projects. The cooperation of virtual teams is location-independent for this purpose and thus allows experts from different areas to work together across countries and even time zones. Especially in terms of participation in exciting projects that go beyond national borders, there are many more opportunities, which mean less travel because of the flexible location.
