In addition to content marketing, the term “agile marketing” is increasingly being used. But what exactly is this and who benefits from this trend? While some people are thinking of the well-known move of the biscuit manufacturer Oreo during the power outage at the American Super Bowl in 2013, this marketing strategy is still unknown territory for others.

Oreo had tweeted the phrase “You can still dunk in the dark” during the half-hour break of the game and had been on the news for days afterwards.

What is Agile marketing and what makes it?

In this context, agile means that advertising strategies are much more flexible and unbound. Oreo did not develop a planning-intensive strategy in advance, but instead reacted spontaneously to an unpredictable situation. Agile marketing is therefore primarily a very dynamic concept and not as well-run as the traditional marketing processes. In order to be able to use this adaptability correctly, small, highly networked teams are usually put together, which are able to create fast designs through flat hierarchies and finalize the projects in a timely manner after the feedback.

Nevertheless, many German companies are still reluctant to break away from rigid hierarchies. However, in order to be able to apply agile marketing in an audition, such established structures are rather unsuitable.

Who is Agiles Marketing worth for?

This reluctance is mainly due to the fact that many people are not aware of the area of application for agile marketing. Which companies should follow this trend and which should remain true to traditional advertising?

Since Agiles Marketing is primarily carried out on the Internet, it is particularly suitable for companies that have a strong presence there. Especially if the target group is rather younger and communicates mainly on social media platforms. Because then Agiles Marketing meets all requirements for a successful advertising concept. Appropriate content is always delivered at the right time and place.

Nevertheless, this does not rule out the possibility that companies with an even smaller Internet presence can also benefit from this. Especially in today’s competition, the marketing department of a company usually can no longer cope with the traditional measures alone. Agile marketing can therefore be used as a way to draw attention to your own company online. In this way, the way towards more modern structures can be slowly found.

Agile marketing in the marketing mix

However, many entrepreneurs face the problem that they do not know how to embed Agile’s marketing in the marketing mix. Even the sole use of agile marketing does not automatically lead to success. It makes much more sense to see Agile marketing as another mainstay in the marketing mix and to integrate it into the marketing strategy. If the corporate culture is changed in this way, Agiles Marketing is not only seen as a trend, but as a further development in order to meet one’s own target group, this can lead to long-term success. This is the only way employees understand that the advantages of classic marketing can be linked to those of the digital world and thus achieve a much greater effect.
